Railway training courses for companies and their employees

Are you a company or employee of a company (not belonging to the SNCF group)? This page is dedicated to your training needs in the exercise of your professions: essential safety tasks, rail service, catenary, track and rail safety. SNCF Réseau is a training organisation for people already in post, referred by their employer.

Exclusive expertise

Recognised for its historic know-how as an infrastructure manager, SNCF Réseau shares its expertise with other stakeholders in the rail sector. More than 550 trainers pass on their experience in exclusive courses.

A recognised organisation

A certified training organisation

SNCF Réseau, as a training organisation, obtained the Qualiopi certification, issued by AFNOR, in October 2021, guaranteeing the quality of its training activities. This certification, initially valid for three years, was effective until 19 October 2024. SNCF Réseau has successfully renewed its certification for a further three years, thus covering its services until 19 October 2027.  It covers two categories: training initiatives and initiatives to accredit prior experiential learning (APEL).

An EPSF-approved training organisation

The Training Policy and Steering Department is approved by the Établissement Public de Sécurité Ferroviaire (EPSF), which oversees compliance with rail transport safety regulations. The approval issued by EPSF covers tasks essential to railway safety, including train driving.

Catenary training courses

The catenary is the suspension system for the conductor cables that supply power to the electric locomotives and signalling system. We train you in the maintenance and repair of this extremely sophisticated system, which is crucial to the day-to-day running of trains.

Rail service training courses

To carry out safety operations relating to the departure and smooth running of trains, the service operator applies very precise regulatory procedures. This is particularly true of the signal and points manoeuvres that you will learn as part of the training you will receive.

Track training courses

Track maintenance operators are multi-skilled professionals responsible for maintaining, monitoring and modernising tracks and their surroundings. During training courses, you will learn how to replace rails or insulating joints, level ballast, lay fencing or even clear undergrowth, etc.

Our certifications

What is SNCF Réseau certification for?

To remain competitive, companies need to adapt or develop their employees' skills. They need qualified, competent professionals to practise a trade. Certification attests that a person has the skills (professional mastery and interpersonal skills) defined in a professional certification reference framework to carry out a job or activity. Certification helps to motivate, valorise and retain employees, as well as support them in their internal and external mobility.

What types of certification?

SNCF Réseau is a certification body and has created 5 qualifications registered in the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (RNCP), validated by the France Compétences Certification Commission.

How are skills certified?

The professional qualification can be obtained through training courses held on SNCF Réseau campuses or through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

Accreditation of prior experiential learning

Created in 2002, accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL) is an individual process for obtaining certification by accrediting prior experiential learning skills, without necessarily undergoing training.

What is the purpose of APEL?

Accreditation of prior experiential learning makes it possible to:

  • certify the skills acquired through professional and personal development
  • increase your employability
  • develop professionally by changing jobs or starting a career change process
  • avoid certain training modules by accrediting your experience
  • acquire a level of study recognised by the French education authorities, making it possible to resume studies, access higher-level training or sign up for a competitive examination
  • develop your self-confidence
