The State
Day-to-day work is carried out with the state and its various departments to ensure the successful completion of all maintenance, regeneration and development projects for the rail network in the Grand Est region.
All the staff at SNCF Réseau Grand Est are committed and mobilised to ensure that the train is the transport solution of choice (for passengers and goods) in our region, at the service of its customers and partners.
Our business is firmly rooted in the areas crossed by the rail network. In the Grand-Est region, as throughout France, we work on a daily basis with many local players to maintain, modernise, develop and operate the regional network.
The Grand Est region lies at the crossroads of major European routes for passenger and goods transportation. The rail network, which combines regional, national and cross-border links, helps to connect the various centres in the region to each other and to the major cities of Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany. In total, 3,685 km of lines are open to commercial service.

In response to major social and environmental challenges, our network is constantly evolving. In 2024, 761 million will be invested in the Grand Est region.
Various rail infrastructure development projects are currently being rolled out, such as the modernisation of the Mulhouse rail hub. Others are being studied, such as the new EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg rail link, which should offer a real alternative to road transport. We are also adapting the network to the needs of daily mobility with the development of the Réseaux Express Métropolitains, including the one in Strasbourg.
We are also carrying out modernisation works on the existing network. All these projects are carried out in conjunction with stakeholders, in a spirit of openness and dialogue.
Through its activities, SNCF Réseau makes a significant contribution to revitalising the region. Developing the network in close collaboration with our customers, improving regularity of service, developing rail freight, reducing our environmental footprint... these are the major challenges that guide our day-to-day actions.
