Centre-Val de Loire

Maintaining and modernising the network

In the Centre-Val de Loire region, SNCF Réseau manages the daily service of almost 600 trains on a varied network of around 2,200 km of lines, made up of main lines, lines providing comprehensive coverage of the region (LDFT) for passengers and freight capillary lines.

The network in the region

With a direct connection to the Île-de-France region, the Centre-Val de Loire rail network is crossed by the Atlantic High Speed Line (LGVA), and by 4 major routes:

Paris-Orléans-Tours-Bordeaux (POTB), Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse (POLT), Paris-Chartres-Le Mans (PCLM), Paris-Nevers-Clermont-Ferrand and the Nantes-Lyon cross-country route.

The core network is completed by a network of lines providing comprehensive coverage of the region and freight capillary lines.

Our network is evolving

In response to major social and environmental challenges, our network will have to evolve to accommodate more and more trains effectively. As part of the State-Region plan contract, various projects to regenerate, improve performance and modernise rail infrastructure are currently being rolled out. In particular, they concern the renewal of the core rail network, the regeneration of lines providing comprehensive coverage of the region, the removal or upgrading of level crossings and the safeguarding of freight capillary lines.

In 2024, €300 million was invested in the network, a third of which was co-financed mainly by the State and the Centre-Val de Loire Region. This level of investment will be constant until 2026.

Our initiatives for the region

SNCF Réseau is a key player in the development of regions because mobility issues are critical there. Developing the network in close collaboration with our customers, improving the regularity of services, maintaining safety in all circumstances, developing rail freight, reducing our environmental footprint... these are the major challenges that guide the actions of our 2,650 or so SNCF Réseau agents in Centre-Val de Loire, who are in daily contact with the regions.
