In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, SNCF Réseau is committed to maintaining a high level of reliability, safety and performance on the rail network. Our maintenance initiatives, coupled with our massive investments in infrastructure modernisation, aim to improve the quality of service we offer and prepare for the mobility of tomorrow.
At the crossroads of major European and national transport routes, the rail network in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region meets a wide range of needs: opening up rural and mountain areas, relieving congestion in major metropolitan areas, commuting and long-distance travel, etc.
SNCF Réseau's projects in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes involve optimising network operation and reliability, and improving line performance.

structuring projects
The projects deployed by SNCF Réseau in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes focus in particular on infrastructure maintenance and equipment renewal operations, as well as improving the safety of existing structures, such as bridges, tunnels and level crossings. The projects in our region ensure regenerating railway lines, building new tracks and improving the performance of existing lines.
Through its activities, SNCF Réseau makes a significant contribution to revitalising the region. Developing the mobility offer in close collaboration with our customers, putting safety at the heart of our day-to-day operations, improving the regularity of service and reducing our environmental footprint are the major challenges that guide the actions of our agents on a daily basis.
SNCF Réseau's regional customers are: the State (Intercités trains), the Regional Council (Regional Express Trains), and around twenty passenger and goods transportation companies. Their satisfaction is at the heart of our business plan. That's why we work hard every day to achieve a high level of service quality. To achieve this, we maintain a regular dialogue with our customers and partners.
Safety is at the heart of our day to day operations. Every day, we inspect and maintain the rail network, paying particular attention to safety at level crossings. We are also taking action to improve health and safety at work, which is an integral part of our corporate culture.
Convinced that we have a major role to play in the ecological transition, we have put sustainable development at the heart of our initiatives. We are particularly committed to implementing environmentally-friendly practices, taking greater account of biodiversity in our projects and works, and training our teams in the issues of climate change and the preservation of biodiversity.
SNCF Réseau's mission is to concentrate its efforts on the busiest network, serving the greatest number of passengers. More isolated lines, with very specific needs, require financial support from our partners.
