To guarantee all its customers fair access to the national rail network, SNCF Réseau has drawn up a code of good conduct relating to its essential functions: capacity allocation and infrastructure charging.

Adopted by the SNCF Réseau Board of Directors on 25 June 2020, our code of good conduct sets out all the measures that guarantee our impartiality and prevent any outside influence on the decisions we take as infrastructure manager. These measures relate both to our internal organisational methods, the structuring of our governance and the individual behaviour of our agents.

These measures include:

  • The independence of the members of the SNCF Réseau Board of Directors from the parent company SNCF
  • The independence of our agents responsible for making decisions on essential functions, of their offices and of the Information Systems they use on a daily basis
  • The need to ensure the collegiality of works carried out by our agents in complex areas
  • The general duty of confidentiality in the event of solicitation of an SNCF group entity likely to contravene the code of good conduct

Our agents in charge of essential functions must also comply with specific measures, in particular:

  • The transparency of procedures
  • Close monitoring by the French Transport Regulatory Authority (Autorité de Régulation des Transports)
  • Preserving the confidentiality of information gathered in the course of their missions

As a marker of our identity, this code of good conduct commits us to our customers. It is as much a pillar of our business as safety requirements, data protection and respect for commercial secrecy.
